Operation organization

Who loves to organize in January?  Raise your hand.  We see you!

Check out this article from Martha Stewart featuring our best garden organization tips.  We are frequent contributors to Martha and are just waiting for that invite to Thanksgiving dinner… (sigh!).

Another important task for January is to disinfect and sharpen garden tools.  You can mix your own solution in a clean bucket and we recommend any of these methods:

  1. Bleach solution:  Mix one part bleach with nine parts water. Dip tools into solution and let it soak for 10 minutes. Rinse completely. *Avoid using bleach on wooden handles.

  1. Vinegar:  Pour white vinegar into a spray bottle and saturate tool blades.  Leave it on for about 30 minutes.  Rinse completely.  *This is a more natural way to clean but may not be as effective as bleach.

  1. Quickie tip:  Use Clorox wipes to keep tools clean and rust free.  We rinse and dry completely after scrubbing.

Bering’s Hardware does a great job of sharpening tools. Or, if you think you think it’s time to swap out for new snips, head to our storefront and treat yourself.  We have frost cloths available for order too.

Stay warm, friends!
